I have made mistakes,

I've rearranged my life
into something strange and differnt

wanting to patch holes that can't be patched

There's too much at stake

The opportunities in abundance

Retreating at the Stone House: The Return to Sanity

Oh how crazy things have been for me over the last year. Relationships transition, work intensifies, guilt over the shoulda coulda woulda's has been unyielding and unending. Until now.....I was invited to participate in the Soul Santuary Retreat at the Stone House.

Praise the Most High God for stone circles http://www.stonecircles.org/. Soul Sanctuary retreat is a five day monthly refuge program at no charge for activists and organizers. I am priviledged to be in the second cohort. Forever grateful for the opportunity. We are asked only to go to dinner at 6:00 pm every day and one chore-either setting up a meal or cleaning up a meal. It's wonderful to set out lunch and know that everyone has enjoyed a great meal you helped put together.

What did I learn or relearn? I need to slow down. I'm leaving the matrix forever. I may need to be there in body but not in spirit. I need to stop holding my breathe. I need to let the rain wash away all of the shoulda, coulda, wouldas. I need to breathe deeply - no more hastly shallow breathes that leave me off balance and confused. And finally I need to press pause every now and then and let the tape stop. Go away and spend sometime with myself doing nothing and everything.

I advise you to apply to the stone house and become a friend. This is very important work. Providing a space for freedom fighters to refuel so they can come back to the fight more thoughtful, grateful and centered.

The Purpose of this Blog

I'm Erin Dale Byrd aka Liberaytor.

The Most High has indeed blessed me. I receive information I want to share every day. This blog is one my tool with which I will share his blessings.

I am an addict. I work non-stop for justice and eat, sleep and drink the liberation of my people and all those who suffer under needlessly. I love endlessly and cannot help myself. I am called to do so. I work to Honor the Most High in all the things that I do. No doubt I fall short and "I be a sinner". I labor and pray that at the end s/he will say, "Well Done".

My people die for lack of knowledge so I will use this blog to share any information, resources, great ideas, great people, words of wisdom, events, encouragement and of course celebrating that the Lord gave me another day to serve Him.

So come, spend some time with a sister soldier seeking the salvation of her people.

Build Power for Working People

So I'm sitting in a Wellstone Action training. Paul Wellstone, arguably one of the most awesome progressive Congressmen in the country who was killed in an airplane acident in 2004. (www.wellstone.org) What a loss to our movement!! I have been so impressed by how all of his campaign workers and supporters have built Wellstone Action into a training and leadership development machine. He has left a legacy to be proud of.

The bottom line is that building power is based on building relationships. Valuing the dignity of all people. Caring for each other, sharing the wealth and resources.

Wellstone asks us to be clear about the issues we care about and the values they represent. What is your story? How do the issues you care about represent your "heart values". Isn't that what love is all about.

I do this work because I have always been blessed. I can't stand injustice. No one should be hungry, no one should be sick and unable to afford the medication they need. No child should be abused. No child should go to school and not be able to get a sound basic education. no person should languish in prison for a nonviolent offense that other industrialized countries would be punished with a fine. I could go on and on but we all know the stories.....

I do this work because I know it can be differnt. I know we can create policies and programs that help people to get their most basic needs met. I believe that we can be each others keepers and that in fact the majority of us want to. We've just been fed so much rhetoric and have been brainwashed to believe in scarity rather than abundance.

Recently I was discussing anti racism work. We discussed how "anti-racism" is a negative term. I asked myself what would a world without racism look like? What would a world without hunger and homelessness look like? We have to start to envision such a place and believe that we can reach there together. We can do this together. We only need the vision, the will and the help of the Most High.

It doesn't hurt to have the help of Wellstone Action either.
